Canada, 2022.

Part I.

Exploring
Vancouver.

Months of planning, daydreaming, researching. Weeks spent avoiding covid on the run up to our flight. Hours spent queuing through airport security. All amounting to the most memorable trip of my life.

2 weeks of gorgeous sunshine and exploring the beauty of Canada, seeing relatives and friends, old and new, admiring some of the most incredible scenery in the world. The trip starts with a few days exploring the vibrant neighbourhoods of Vancouver. Eating delicious food, drinking even more delicious beer, and meeting some friendly locals, really living up-to their stereotype.

Stanley Park &
The Celebration of Light.

We spent a day exploring the iconic Stanley Park once Jon & Em had arrived, luckily coinciding with Vancouver’s Celebration of Light. We cycled through the park to Stanley Park Brew Co and walked into downtown, setup camp on the bridge, and took way too many pictures of fireworks.

Lynn Creek &
Jericho Beach Sunset.

We took our first drive out of the city a short ways to Lynn Creek, stunning forests and waterfalls just about half an hour from the city, four days in and I already knew that leaving at the end of this trip would prove to be a struggle. After a day admiring the trees and looking for bears we took a few beers to Jericho Beach to watch the sun set over the inlet.

Vancouver to
Revelstoke.

Leaving the suburbs of Vancouver for our first day of driving on this trip, 6 hours on the road from Van to Revelstoke. Stopping off at the aptly named town of Nicola for a Tim Horton’s, through Kamloops up the 5 to beautiful Revelstoke. Seeing Tim, Alice & Bun at the motel for the first time, reunited over poutine and whiskey.

Golden,
British Columbia.

Our first stop west was Golden BC, a stunning little town nestled in the mountains on the Columbia River. The best Airbnb of the trip was home for us for the next couple of days exploring, up to Lake Louise and the Icefields Parkway, before our visit to Jasper. The sunshine and views were worth the million mosquito bites.

Lake Louise &
Yoho National Park.

After a beautiful sunrise with views of Moberly Peak, and the best BBQ breakfast, we hit the road for Lake Louise and a hike to Lake Agnes. On the way back to Golden we took a short hike to the foot of Takakkaw Falls.
